Help Ensure Your Children's Health

Did you know that back problems in children are on the rise? Here are three things you can do to help your child's back keep strong.

  1. Your child's backpack should not be too heavy or small. You should limit your child's backpack to 5% to 10% of their body weight. A rolling backpack may be an option if your child is a serious reader. It is possible to borrow or buy books for your child each year, which can be a great option. This will make it easier for your child not to have to bring heavy books home each day to complete homework.

  2. Don't slouch! Teach your toddlers proper posture. This goes beyond standing straight while walking. Children should be able sit straight while playing on a computer or video game. Everyone should agree that they must all take regular breaks from electronic devices in order to stay mobile.

  3. Encourage exercise right from the start. Start exercising early. Encourage your children to exercise. Your family should include daily exercise such as running, walking and playing in the park in their daily routine.
